You may bring your camper van / caravan to Great Alne ! But we have been instructed by those from whom we hire the hall that the number of these parked is to be limited. To let us know in advance is essential. Please ring Paul on 0121 689 1802. Leave your own 'phone contact if on answerphone. The Hall car park is NOT a caravan park, but we are able to accommodate a small number. There is hardstanding to use near the hall, space permitting. Ring Paul and place your request. Last 2 years: space to spare. We hope visitors have not been thus deterred from coming. Anyone remaining overnight please, £3 per person per night. (Under 16s free). This allows the charges we pay to more fairly reflect the relative use that is made of the Memorial Hall. (For a tent or trailer-tent: see more details - click on Accommodation.) *** (We have been informed that there may be less parking space in future years, since part of this frontage belongs to the owner of the the adjacent "club" buildings. To manoeuvre to an appropriate location in as safe a way possible, is advised to arrive with caravan or large motorhome as early as is our Hall booking allows (a few moments before 1pm should enable safe manoeuvre). We are not sanctioned to use the Hall prior to our booking starting at 1pm on Friday. *** (Resourceful visitors one year brought their narrowboat onto the Stratford Canal, and moored it a moderate cycle-ride away.) ** 2. Tents We MAY be able to suggest somewhere to pitch a small "hiking tent" fairly close by. Ring Paul on 0121 689 1802 at least a month beforehand. "Indoor camping", we are not advertising. If you reach answerphone, please leave your own request, your name, & phone contact. Indoor Camping Limited "indoor camping" in the Memorial Hall HAD rarely been made use of by one or two - by bringing a sleeping bag and a foam roll, or other softer alternative to the hard floor. No one requested this in recent years, wisely preferring more comfortable alternatives. We don't wish to preclude visitors with limited resources, but this is NOT now an advertised choice for the long weekend. *** 3. Family Camping To disappointment of regulars, we sadly may no longer use that delightful water meadow of earlier years. There, Linda in the village, with helpful cooperation of a local farmer had enabled a small camping ground which created the busy accommodation nucleus for the first two decades and more of "Great Alne Long Weekends". Two public camping sites are within a couple of miles - see under Accommodation But relatively early in the year, nights do occasionally get very cold, so visit the sites well prepared. *** 4. Bed and Breakfast. See may more details under: Accommodation In the surrounding area are beautiful villages with excellent domestic B&B's. The Throckmorton at Coughton is one of several hostelries which also have very good B&B. *** 5. YHA Hostel The nearest is Stratford-upon-Avon - 9 miles away. For further details, visit the YHA Stratford-u-Avon website - cLICK. ***
