Handbells.
Paulbrings along his lovely handbell set which he has restored. Available during each afternoon - outside under the Gazebo if weather is fine. Unless you get a place early, you may go out to walk later than intended. Liked very much by all who try this - especially popular with our younger participants.
Paul and Sarah guide a tune from the day's handbell ringing for all to hear.
This pic shows a pleasant chance for those present one evening to appreciate what is regularly going on in the daytime handbell ringing workshops.
In fine weather, these take place under the shade of a gazebo, on the green.
Cycling Do bring along your bike for Sunday afternoon. Competently led along delightful country lanes by John T. Note that in cycling, as in dance and all activities, YOU are responsible for your safety. And : Parents are responsible for safe conduct of their children at all times. **********************************************************************************************************************************
Family-Trees David and Jo bring along their interesting material. Ask and see how modern search techniques facilitate the investigations. It is possible for David to be contracted to investigate your own family's name: eventually to produce a massive printout of your very own Family Tree. **********************************************************************************************************************************
Ham Radio Station.International radio contacts are quite often made during the Long Weekend. David kindly brings along his Amateur Radio equipment; and sometimes fellow "ham" enthusiasts during at least one daytime. This allows GB0 GAF (Great Britain 0[riginal] Great Alne Folk - a Registered temporary Station) to make a variety of contacts each year. A pleasant number of these (on those frequencies which, according to weather and other conditions, will carry that far) involve us with the chance to speak directly to "ham" Radio enthusiasts abroad.
Chez Meg for Tea & Scones. A most pleasant: now traditional Sunday Afternoon destination in Alcester. The cyclists; those out walking, and even a few by car know where to find the very best hostess. Delicious scones & afternoon tea: meeting with others from the Long Weekend. If you wish to partake of this delight, ensure that John T. has collected your name & your £1 beforehand.
